Professors Chris Acedo and Nicole Vargas oversee the live-to-tape broadcast, which airs Fridays at 6 p.m. during the spring and fall semesters on ITV Channel 16, the San Diego County Education Channel. It is also available on YouTube.
The stories and scripts are produced, written, videotaped, and edited by the students enrolled in RTVF 145, as well as RTVF 249A-D.
As a CNN Newsource affiliate, Newscene students also utilize news material gathered by CNN to enhance their own newscasts.
Acedo calls Newscene a class, an internship and a first job all rolled into one, and students from Newscene have gone on to pursue careers in professional media all over the nation. Learn more about the program, the alumni and the amazing students by checking out the latest news.
