Newscene continues with remote broadcasts during COVID-19 pandemic

Screen Shot 2020-04-14 at 3.11.57 PMWith San Diego City College closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the weekly student-produced television newscast had to adjust to a new normal. But within a week, Newscene had a plan, continuing its weekly broadcasts on March 20.

Stay-at-home orders spread students from Canada to Mexico, and the team had to face a long list of technological challenges. But the skills used to produce the show is our home studio on campus were adjusted to allow for a remote, direct-to-YouTube broadcast that will continue through the spring term.

The experience mirrors that of television news operations across the nation, which are using many of the same tools Newscene students have adopted to successfully produce a show.
