Seats are still available in RTVF 145, Television News Production (Course No. 24196). Students in this course produce, direct and deliver a weekly half-hour news program that airs on the county education channel, ITV 16.

Newscene students learning

The course runs on Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:45-2 p.m. and Fridays from 9:35 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

There are no prerequisites, but entering students can benefit from taking other RTVF skills courses in previous terms or concurrently.

Join Newscene this spring – Enroll in RTVF 145

RTVF/DJRN recruitment flyerThere is plenty of new coming to Newscene this spring.

Professor Chris Acedo takes over as the lead professor RTVF 145, which is the class responsible for the production of the 30-minute weekly news broadcast show. Acedo comes with years of professional broadcast experience in San Diego, and he is a Newscene alumnus.

He will be joined by Nicole Vargas, who joined the City College faculty in the fall. The former multimedia journalist at the San Diego Union-Tribune will assist Acedo and the students with reporting, editing and producing content for the show, as well as the new Newscene website.

RTVF 1345 is held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Students meet on Mondays and Wednesdays fromĀ 12:45-1:50 p.m., with Friday’s class, which includes the production of the weekly show, starting at 9:35 a.m. and wrapping at 3:50 a.m.
